Tri Valley Doula

Offering care & support to pregnant women before, during & after labor .

What is a doula? A doula offers care and support to pregnant women before, during and after labor.

Why am I a doula?  I believe that a woman should be empowered during her birth. I believe that a woman has the right to control what happens during her birth.  I believe that women can be strong, beautiful, vulnerable, nervous and excited during labor. I believe that having a doula helps to make birth more relaxed and enjoyable for everyone involved.

Through education, experience and extensive use of resources I help prepare a pregnant woman for her upcoming journey.  During labor, I offer continuous physical and emotional encouragement to a laboring woman and her partner.  I also provide postpartum care in the new mother's home to make sure the transition into motherhood is as it should be.  I help birthing mothers recognize their own strength and confidence.  I hope to help provide a more positive, safe and joyful birth experience for you.

I'm a mom of two boys. I volunteer at their school in the classroom. I also head up their school's FAME (Fine Arts and Music  Education) program.

I've been happily married for 12 years. I've worked in the corporate world, working 60 hours a week for many years. When I became a mom, I decided to stay home with my boys. I've been a stay-home-mom for 11 years (time flies!)

My friends and family joke that I'm Jill of all Trades. I have many interests (golf, art, painting, gardening, reading, animals, yoga, home improvement, running, skiing, biking).  I love learning new things.

I have a BS in Business from Cal Poly State University with a minor in Art.

I'm a member of DONA International, Bay Area Birth Association, CAPPA, Mount Diablo Doula Community, Tri Valley Holistic Moms Network, ICEA, Birth Professionals of the Bay Area, East Bay Doula Group, and BPAC doulas (volunteer doula work).

One of the most important things to remember when picking a doula is chemistry.  If you feel you can talk with, cry with, laugh with and most important labor with a woman, then you have probably found the right doula.
